Border advisory services

The municipality of Tervola, together with the Nordic Border Advisory Network, offers guidance and advisory services to anyone planning to work, study, start a business, or engage in other activities between Finland and another Nordic country (Sweden or Norway). Border advisory services are free of charge and serve both individuals and businesses.

Border advisory services promote cross-border activities for individuals, businesses, organizations, and authorities. Border advisory services increase mobility between Finland, Sweden, and Norway by providing guidance, information, and facilitating connections. They inform about matters that need to be considered and direct people to the appropriate authority. In addition, border advisory services actively work to remove border obstacles.

Border advisory services provide expert advice and practical guidance on cross-border issues. A broad and effective network of authorities ensures that clients receive reliable and up-to-date information. Accurate information supports the smooth operations of both individuals and businesses between Finland and neighboring countries.

In addition to advisory services, cross-border guidance actively participates in identifying and reducing cross-border obstacles. Cross-border obstacles refer to concrete problems that hinder cross-border movement, work, or services, such as issues related to social security or labor markets. Identified obstacles are recorded and forwarded to the Nordic Council of Ministers’ Cross-Border Obstacles Council, which can promote their handling and resolution also at the political level.
