Tervola's business support and municipal supplement
Annual business supports:
A company registered in Tervola with a valid business ID can apply for annual business support.
Support is granted based on the decision of the municipal board, section 292, dated October 1, 2018.
The payment period for business subsidies is annually from October 1 to September 30. For example, for the year 2025, applications can be made for expenses recorded during the period October 1, 2024, to September 30, 2025.
The support application must be submitted by October 3, 2025, and support decisions are aimed to be made by the end of October. Late applications will not be processed.
Support can be obtained for business startup costs, training, marketing, product development, and arranging apprenticeships.
The municipality of Tervola also grants a separate municipal supplement, which is intended to support job seekers from Tervola in finding employment, to reduce the threshold for employers to hire, and to improve the opportunities for companies and associations to employ unemployed job seekers. The municipal supplement can be applied for throughout the year in the future.

Support for starting entrepreneurs
Support for a start-up entrepreneur can be received by an entrepreneur who is starting a business in Tervola.
- The support is specific to each entrepreneur.
- If a company has multiple founders (limited partnership, general partnership, or limited liability company), it can be granted to one of the company’s founders.
- The support for a starting entrepreneur is €350.
- A person moving their company’s headquarters to Tervola may be eligible for start-up entrepreneur support, provided they have not received it before.

Education support
Educational support can be obtained for vocational further education as well as for completing short courses.
Support is granted:
- for course and training fees
- for seminar and webinar expenses
- for training materials
Support is not granted:
- travel expenses
- to wage costs
- accommodation expenses
- coffee/food expenses
- to official fees
- to plastic cards
- attending trade fairs as a visitor
- support for training, marketing, and product development is not granted for postage costs.
Training, marketing and development support can be granted up to 50% of the eligible costs, up to a total of €1000/company/payment period.

Marketing support
Marketing support can be granted:
For media advertising, such as:
- digital advertising and marketing, e-commerce, search engine and social media marketing (e.g., Google)
- to print advertising
- to direct marketing
- radio and TV advertising
- for creating marketing material
- trade fair participation (booth rental)
- for creating and maintaining your own website
- on commissioned distribution materials: (pens, business cards, calendars, sweets, excluding accessories)
- for logo tape applications
Marketing support is not granted:
- to online search or electronic catalog services. One electronic catalog cost is accepted as an eligible marketing expense.
- for costume prints
- to one’s own wages
- travel expenses
- accommodation expenses
- entertainment expenses
- for serving
- support declarations
- for Christmas greetings
- support for training, marketing, and product development is not granted for postage costs.
- training, marketing and development support can be granted up to 50% of the eligible costs, up to a total of €1000/company/payment period.
”Maaseudulta Käsin” -regarding the trade fair participation fee, support can be granted at 100% for one basic booth in exhibition areas B, C, and D.

Product development support
Product development support can be granted for product development expenses that have not received other support (development grants or equivalent).
Training, marketing and development support can be granted up to 50% of the eligible costs, up to a total of €1000/company/payment period.
Support for training, marketing, and product development is not granted for postage costs.

Apprenticeship training support
Apprenticeship training support can be granted up to 90 euros/month/person.
- A company can receive support for two people at a time.
- Support is granted for a maximum of 12 months per person.
- The support will not be granted if the training is interrupted prematurely during the first 12 months.

Applying for business support and submitting the application
- The business support application must be submitted by October 3, 2025.
- The support application must be made using the electronic form found on the website of the municipality of Tervola.
- All required documents must be attached to the application via the application form.
- Applications submitted late will not be processed.
Tervola’s municipal supplement for employment
The employment municipal supplement conditions in the municipality of Tervola changed as of July 1, 2025.
The purpose of the municipal supplement is to support job seekers from Tervola in finding employment and to help lower the threshold for employers to hire.
Municipal allowance will from now on be paid for a maximum of six months and up to 600 euros per month.

Through Peräpohjolan Leader Association, you can apply for support for business projects as well as various development projects. The best way to get information about different support opportunities is from the Peräpohjolan Leader Association’s website. Peräpohjolan Leader also grants rural development fund investment support for expanding business operations or for start-up acquisitions. Support is granted for 35% of eligible costs.
