Make a citizen initiative

According to Section 23 of the Local Government Act, a resident of the municipality, a community or foundation operating in the municipality, and anyone who owns or manages real property in the municipality have the right to make initiatives concerning municipal activities. In addition, a service user has the right to make initiatives regarding the municipality’s services. The initiator can also be under 18 years of age. The initiative is handled by the authority whose jurisdiction it falls under. The initiator must be informed of the measures taken in response to the initiative.

The municipality of Tervola has adopted the system maintained by the Ministry of Justice called Kuntalaisaloite.fi-service. Through the service, a citizen initiative can be filled out and submitted electronically. The use of the service is free of charge.
