Guide to services for older adults
Tervola Elderly and disabled council updates the service guide for older people annually, which contains information about services in the area. The guide is available in print at least from the municipal office’s information desk and the library. A limited number of printed copies are ordered, but you can also print it yourself. The guide is in Finnish. For more information about the guide, you can contact the administrative department’s office secretary.

Assistance service for errands
Assistance service for errands
The municipality of Tervola launched a trial for an assistance service in January 2024. The aim of the assistant’s work is to support elderly people in living at home by providing help with everyday tasks and errands. Petteri Ylimaunu works as the assistant.
The assistant can act as a companion, for example, at the doctor’s office or in the store. They can help with carrying groceries and firewood, picking up mail, changing light bulbs, and other small tasks. The assistant can also transport pre-paid purchases from the store to the client’s home. However, transporting people is not part of a personal assistant’s duties.
Temporary assistance, for example during a client’s recovery period, is suitable for a personal assistant. Regular or larger tasks, especially for home service clients, are handled by the municipal workshop for a fee. The service assistant does not perform medical procedures, such as wound care, nor handle clients’ payment methods or money.
The service is free of charge, and its primary target group is elderly people living at home. The service is free of charge, and its primary target group is elderly people living at home.
