Maternity and child health clinic services and sexual health
Maternity and child health clinics (neuvola) help the whole family and take care of its well-being. The services provided by neuvola are free of charge, preventive, and health-promoting.
In child health clinics, families with preschool-aged children receive support and assistance, and the clinic monitors the child’s health, growth, and development.
The purpose of maternity clinics is to ensure and support the health of the expectant mother and the unborn child.
Contraception clinics provide support regarding family planning and contraception issues, as well as information about sexual health. In the Lapland welfare area, contraception is offered free of charge to those under 25 years old.
Families with preschool-aged children
A preschool-aged child develops at an incredible pace from a baby to a school starter. They need daily care, affection, boundaries, and love. Parents should support the child’s growth and development by encouraging them and praising their efforts. Various challenges and surprises can arise in the child’s growth, development, or family life. On these pages, you will find support for the everyday life of a family with a preschool-aged child.
Young adults
In the life of a young person who has finished lower secondary school, the worst storms of puberty have usually already subsided. The young person is searching for their own identity and beginning to detach from their parents. They still need their parents’ support, but also space to become independent. These pages provide support for both the young person and their parents during this phase of gaining independence.
