Kätkävaara Nature trail

Location: Leirikätkä 74, 97140 Tervola

Kätkävaara is a rocky hill located in the northern part of the municipality of Tervola, where you can find the Kätkävaara nature trail, which is a total of 7 kilometers long. The stone fields of Kätkävaara are impressive ancient shores, often also called ’devil’s fields.’ The nature trail is a loop route that showcases the diverse nature of the area. The route is moderately challenging, and depending on your own pace, it is recommended to allow 3-4 hours for walking.

At the beginning of the trail, there is a campfire site and a toilet, and on the summit of the trail, there is a lookout tower, a log hut, and a toilet. The trail has a total of 19 information points. The route is partially accessible. The first 300 meters to the lean-to are accessible via a boardwalk. Additionally, there is a separate 600-meter accessible route around Perälampi.

Accessible services: a lean-to shelter, toilet, and woodshed, as well as piers on the shore of Perälampi.

Elijärvi’s Bird tower

On the shore of Lake Elijärvi between Hastinkangas (Kuksa) and Törmävaara.
Lake Elijärvi is a small lake with overgrown shores, where there are especially many migratory birds in the spring. There are directions to the birdwatching tower from the crossroad of the cart path off the Mastotie, Törmävaara.
