Carpet washing area

The carpet washing area at Lossinranta is located in the church village on the east bank of the Kemijoki River, near Siltatie, at Museotie 19.

The washing area has six basins as well as a carpet roller and drying racks. The area also has a boat launch and a landing jetty.

The area is unmonitored, and the municipality of Tervola does not compensate for any damages that may be caused by the structure of the washing facilities or improper use of the roller.

The water at the carpet washing site comes from the water supply network and the wastewater is discharged into the sewer system.

Instructions for users of the carpet washing facility

  • The pools and their surroundings must be kept tidy, so please do your part to keep the area clean!
  • Please be considerate of other carpet washers and other users of the area.
  • At carpet washing stations, you may only wash carpets and other home textiles. Washing cars, animals, etc. is strictly prohibited!

Washing:

  • If no water comes from the taps, open the shut-off valve (under the sinks in the black water tap, there is a shut-off valve and a key).
  • Avoid unnecessary running water while washing.
  • Clean up after yourself. Rinse the sinks and remove trash/lint from the sink strainers, and put the cleaning rollers back in place.
  • Turn off the tap. If there are no other users, also close the shut-off valve at the water post.

Mangling and drying:

  • When mangling light-colored rugs, it’s advisable to use a protective cloth or plastic, as the rollers may have retained color from previously mangled dark rugs.
  • After mangling and draining, hand over the draining area to the next people. The carpets are dried completely at home.
