Municipal council

The council is responsible for the municipality’s activities and finances. The members and deputy members of the council (councillors and deputy councillors) are elected in municipal elections for the four calendar years following the election year. The Tervola municipal council has 17 councillors. The council elects a chairperson and two vice-chairpersons from among its members for a term of two years at a time.

The council is responsible for the operations and finances of the municipal organisation, exercises the highest decision-making power in the municipality and delegates its powers by means of the provisions of the administrative regulations. The management of the municipality is based on the council’s decisions, the most important of which are: administrative regulations, municipal strategy, financial plan and budget.
