Technical services
Technical department
Technical department is responsible to ensure the functionality of the municipality’s built environment and the appropriate use of the environment, as well as to promote construction, the development of a functional community structure, and the formation of a healthy and safe living and residential environment. The technical department also takes care of the municipality’s property cleaning services.
The department of technical services is responsible for

- district heating
- municipal properties and areas
- transport routes and playgrounds
- sports and recreational facilities
- building supervision
- municipal property cleaning services
The municipal technical committee of Tervola serves as the supervisory body. More info on Technical committee in Finnish.
The technical committee also decides on granting deviation permits and planning requirement permits based on the preparation of the building engineer.

Environmental protection
The tasks assigned to environmental protection authorities are handled by the environmental supervision of the City of Rovaniemi (as of January 1, 2019). Energy Efficiency Agreement Action Plan
The municipality of Tervola made the decision to join the municipal energy efficiency agreement (KETS) in 2018. This is based on the municipality’s strategy, which provides a targeted plan for the development of energy and environmental issues.
