Club activities in Tervola - The Finnish model of hobbies
The municipality of Tervola has received funding to implement club activities under the Finland Model for Hobbies, which aims to provide schoolchildren the opportunity to participate in free extracurricular activities during the school day. The clubs are organized as soon as possible after school at their own school or nearby.
Clubs are planned in a way that allows students who use school transportation to get home by school transport. However, this is not possible for everyone, and in such cases, arranging transportation for the student to get home is the responsibility of the guardian.
All clubs will continue their activities throughout the spring.
Attending the club and absences
- The idea behind club activities is that members commit to attending throughout the entire school year.
- Club leaders monitor the absences of club members and contact home if necessary to find out the reason for the absences.
- It is important to attend the club regularly, because there may be other members who want to join – this way, a spot is freed up for someone else if attending the club is no longer enjoyable.
- Cancellations of the club venue can be reported directly to the club instructor or the club coordinator: satu.karvonen@tervola.fi
